GAMSAT For Beginners

Pre-Prep Your Sciences Before Diving Into GAMSAT's Syllabus

Highly recommended for candidates who did not take the pre-requisite science courses in undergrad or need a refresher

GAMSAT For Beginners | Prep Zone Academy

Prep Zone Academy’s GAMSAT Beginners Course focuses on prepping your sciences for GAMSAT’s Section III: Reasoning in Biological and Physical Sciences. Section III is made up of questions from the 3 sciences in the following proportions, Chemistry – 40%, Biology – 40%, and Physics – 20%.

The GAMSAT Beginners Course will cover topics, or question types you need help with the most before moving on to comprehensive GAMSAT prep. We will help determine your starting point & create a personalised study plan that fits your schedule – equipped with actionable steps for you throughout your GAMSAT preparation journey.

Overview of GAMSAT Section III

Reasoning in Biological and Physical Sciences

Science Standard Required as specified by the test creator (ACER): The level of subject knowledge required for the Reasoning in Biological and Physical Sciences section of the test generally corresponds to the first year of university studies in Biology and Chemistry, and A-level/Leaving Certificate/Year 12 in Physics.

Questions from the three discipline areas are integrated throughout the section and are in multiple choice format. Stimulus material is presented in a variety of formats including text, mathematical, graphs, tables and diagrams. In addition to testing reasoning and problem solving within a scientific context, this section examines the recall and understanding of basic science concepts. The skills assessed include the ability to:

  1. identify knowledge in new contexts,
  2. analyse and interpret data,
  3. discover relationships,
  4. translate knowledge from one form to another,
  5. formulate and apply hypotheses and make generalisations,
  6. deduce consequences from models,
  7. follow and evaluate a line of reasoning,
  8. evaluate evidence,
  9. categorise and select information relevant to problems,
  10. generate and apply strategies to solve problems,
  11. make comparisons,
  12. extrapolate,
  13. interpolate,
  14. estimate and recognise limits in accuracy
